Carpet Pile Weight

Pile weight refers to the density and thickness of the carpet fibres, which impacts the durability, comfort, and overall appearance of the carpet. It is typically measured in grams per square metre (g/m²).

1. Low Pile Weight (400–1,000 g/m²):
These carpets are lightweight and affordable, often used in commercial spaces, or as temporary flooring. They tend to be more durable but less plush underfoot. They work well in areas with low foot traffic, such as hallways, offices, or budget-conscious homes.

2. Medium Pile Weight (1,000–1,500 g/m²):
These are still relatively lightweight but provide more comfort and softness. Suitable for rooms with moderate traffic like bedrooms or living rooms that don’t experience heavy use.

3. High Pile Weight (1,500–2,500 g/m²):
A good choice for residential spaces, offering a balanced mix of comfort and durability. These carpets are used in high-traffic areas like living rooms, stairs, and hallways.

4. Very High Pile Weight (2,500–4,000 g/m²):
These carpets are plush and luxurious, often used in areas where comfort is a priority, such as bedrooms or premium living rooms.
